Clay Hill School are looking to recruit an outstanding Outreach Teacher to join our Teaching team!
We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

Clay Hill School is an independent specialist day school for young people with learning difficulties, autism and associated complex needs. We provide education, therapies and support for young people aged 5 to 19 years. Clay Hill School is an effective provision providing small group education, individualised therapy, and a carefully and creatively constructed curriculum which develops a love of learning and gives our young people the best possible outcomes. A calm, purposeful and caring environment is provided, which combined with high staff to pupil ratios, ensures that every pupil at Clay Hill School has the opportunity to develop their ability, share new experiences and reach their full potential in a secure and safe environment.
An opportunity has arisen to support a year 6 pupil as an outreach placement. The candidate would need to be enthusiastic, resilient and be able to build relationships. The role would require planning, delivery and assessment of the pupil’s work. The candidate would be expected to participate in pupil progress meetings to raise attainment. Confident working 1:1 in offsite situations:
- To plan (with support) and deliver the outreach programme for a named child off the school site
- To provide 1-2-1 tutoring with work supported by the teaching and learning lead.
- To support pupils to improve their personal development and social skills through mentoring.
- To support out-of-classroom activities as part of a broad and varied curriculum – including supporting pupils at alternative provision and outdoor education.
- To ensure Child Protection and Safeguarding is of paramount importance, including being aware of all risk assessments
- Follow procedures for accident, illness, absconding and absence for pupils and to adhere to all school policies
- Contribute to any meetings that are called for the education and welfare of pupils, including training.
- Attend department, behaviour whole school staff meetings
- To conduct any reasonable duties as directed by the Head or their representatives
- Undertake regular line management
- Receive regular CPD
- Attend external CPD and qualification courses pertaining to the role.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and ideally have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN, along with the following characteristics:
Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.
Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital
