Job Description

Sketchley Hall School are looking to recruit a Sports Coach or PE Teacher to join our team! We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed individual who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be working with and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

Our benefits include:

  • Exclusive access to reward and discount scheme
  • Comprehensive induction
  • Commitment to your ongoing training and career progression
  • Teacher pension scheme
  • Paid for enhanced DBS
  • Wellbeing support
  • Cycle to work scheme and more!

Sketchley School is split across three sites in Leicestershire. The successful candidate will primarily be based in Burbage, Leicestershire, but may also be required to travel to Narborough, Leicester. Our Burbage site houses young people in school years 3 to 8 and in Narborough we have school years 9 to 11. All of our students have a diagnosis of autism and are grouped in classes of 3-5 children, with high levels of staff support. Many of our students are very passionate about football - and as such, ideally the successful candidate will have a good interest or a background in the sport.

P.E. lessons are learner-led, meaning there is no hard-and-fast rule to delivering set schemes of work. It is important, however, that the successful candidate is adaptable and flexible to meet the children’s needs and interests, rather than imposing upon them specific lessons, activities or tasks.

The role/candidate:

  • We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic sports coach to come and deliver P.E. lessons and break/lunchtime clubs at our school.
  • This is a great opportunity for anyone with a background in sport to get a head start in schools or educational settings. In particular, this role will be especially suitable for someone looking to qualify as a P.E. teacher in the future, take on a career in sports coaching, or work in schools.
  • The successful candidate will be taken on as a full-time Unqualified Teacher (UQT) and will work based on our school day which is structured into 6 x 45mins lessons, with break and lunch. We also offer bi-weekly clubs during the school day.
  • The role will sometimes require doing P.E. lessons with as few as one student, or as many as five. On those occasions where all children in a class may be unwilling to do P.E., the role may involve working in a classroom with them instead to engage in an alternative activity.

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

If you want to progress your career in Education, Aspris Children’s Services will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.  Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
